Somewhere between a Grupo Firme concert, a hidden personal pizza, and two empty seats that were never supposed to matter this much, our story began.

What started as a random night almost didn’t happen at all. DJ bought tickets last minute and ended up sitting next to Mariel, whose friends couldn’t make it that night. After spotting her from a few rows away, he “accidentally” found his way down to the empty seats beside her. Somewhere between sarcastic jokes about “floor pizza,” sharing a slice, and dancing together at the concert like they had known each other forever, something clicked instantly.

Since that night, life together has been built on the little moments that somehow turn into unforgettable memories. Whether it’s golfing together and celebrating every good shot, packaging comic books side by side, hunting for Astros cards, laughing through comedy shows, or traveling across the world, they’ve learned that their favorite part of every experience is simply doing it together.

One thing that defines their relationship most is the connections they make along the way. No matter where they travel, they somehow leave with new friends and stories they’ll tell forever. From bartenders in Greece surprising DJ with a birthday cake and singing in Greek, to strangers in Japan showering them with kindness and gifts, they’ve built a relationship centered around adventure, laughter, and genuine human connection.

But beyond the trips and memories, what makes their relationship truly special is the love and life they’ve built together. Mariel saw in DJ a kindness and heart that he didn’t always see in himself, and DJ found in Mariel someone who made everything feel natural from the very beginning. Through every season of life, every challenge, every celebration, and every quiet moment in between, they’ve continued choosing each other over and over again.

Their next chapter began during a trip to Japan, when DJ proposed at Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto with the boys secretly helping capture the entire moment. Completely surprised and surrounded by love, it became one of the most unforgettable days of their lives.

For anyone who knows them, it probably makes perfect sense that they chose a destination wedding. Their relationship has always been rooted in experiences, travel, celebration, and making memories with the people they love most. More than just a wedding day, they wanted this to feel like an adventure shared with all of their favorite people.
